The ancient world rarely fails to captivate, and for Cheri Andrichuk, the Franchise Partner of Expedia Cruises in Fleetwood, the recent opportunity to travel from Istanbul to Rome, with stops in Greece and Malta, was nothing short of spectacular.
Andrichuk had the privilege of sailing on Oceania Cruises’ Vista, one of their newer ships that accommodates around 1,200 guests.
“Oceania’s tagline, ‘Your world, your way,’ truly encapsulates the experience,” Andrichuk says. “With the Vista, The difference is in the details – the service, the food and the unique amenities.”
Onboard activities
Andrichuk was particularly impressed by the variety of onboard activities available. “The culinary kitchen with Chef Noel, who conducted Italian cooking classes, was fantastic. Participants even got fun little aprons to take home,” she says.
“There’s also an art studio with a resident artist, who offers workshops in their medium. These activities add a creative and educational dimension to the cruise.”
Guests can learn about the latest in technology and social media in the tech room. “What you can do on board is so different and interesting,” she says. “You can be as active or as relaxed as you want.”
Accommodations
When it comes to accommodations, Oceania Cruises does not disappoint. “The staterooms are well-appointed, with the biggest showers I’ve seen on a cruise ship,” Andrichuk says. “Many rooms have verandas and the option of a butler service, which adds an extra touch of luxury.”
“The library was outstanding – perfect for sitting and getting lost in a good book. It’s these touches that make the experience so special.”
Stunning destinations
“One of the best things about Oceania is the longer port stays and fewer sea days, which allow you to really explore the destinations,” Andrichuk says.
“Malta was a standout for me. We had a private tour, explored its rich history and visited a vineyard. The view as you come into the port is stunning.”
Oceania’s smaller ships can access ports that larger vessels cannot, offering intimate experiences. “You get to visit local markets, buy food and even cook it on board, truly immersing yourself in the local culture.”
Exclusive offers
From July 15 to 31, Expedia Cruises has an exclusive offer of pre-paid gratuities on veranda and above staterooms, an offer that can be combined with Oceania’s current promotions, including shore excursions, specialty dining and Wi-Fi.
She encourages travellers to consider the inclusive nature of cruising. “When you compare the experience, the food, the inclusions and the level of service, it’s far more affordable than you might think.” Cruises offer something for people of all ages – whether it’s a world-class concert or the various kids’ and teen clubs.
Andrichuk’s top tip for potential cruisers is to consult a cruise specialist. “Each ship is different, and a specialist can help match you with the perfect experience. When you’re on a cruise, there are so many options and no decisions to stress over – it’s all there for you.”
