Oceania Cruises has appointed Master Chefs Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale as its executive culinary directors, succeeding Jacques Pépin, the legendary chef and founding father of the line’s culinary philosophy, The Finest Cuisine at Sea®. Pépin will continue to play a vital role within Oceania Cruises as executive culinary adviser and will maintain his collaborative efforts with the line through the philanthropic work of The Jacques Pépin Foundation, a key partner and supporter since its inception.
“It’s truly remarkable to have two Master Chefs of France leading our culinary team,” said Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises. “Chefs Alex and Eric represent the next generation of our culinary innovation, carrying forward Jacques’ incredible legacy.”
Jacques Pépin expressed his pride in passing the baton to Quaretti and Barale, praising their talent and dedication over the past two decades. He looks forward to providing guidance and focusing more on his philanthropic efforts with The Jacques Pépin Foundation.
Oceania Cruises stands out as the only cruise line to have two Master Chefs of France, with both Quaretti and Barale inducted into the prestigious Maîtres Cuisiniers de France. Having been integral members of the culinary team for years, their combined expertise and vision are expected to propel the line’s culinary story forward.
“With the launch of Allura in 2025, expanding our fleet to eight ships and over 40 restaurants globally, the leadership of these two talented executive culinary directors is key to maintaining The Finest Cuisine at Sea,” Del Rio added.
Chefs Quaretti and Barale will also participate in the upcoming Jacques Pépin Foundation Gala in New York City on April 4, joining a distinguished group of world-renowned chefs.
