Oceania Cruises’ ship Marina is back in service after undergoing extensive renovations.
“Marina is the first—the original—ship designed by foodies, built by foodies, for foodies,” says Frank A. Del Rio, president of Oceania Cruises. “Food is the foundation of what we do on board each of our ships, and globally, in the destinations we visit.”
The 1,250-guest vessel now has three new dining options: Aquamar Kitchen, a poolside ice cream parlor and an al fresco pizzeria.
Aquamar Kitchen is a wellness-focused venue that debuted on Vista last year. Here, guests can order smoothies, cold-pressed juices and energy bowls for breakfast, plus avocado toast, salads, wraps, tuna tacos and crunchy chicken sandwiches for lunch. Aquamar Kitchen also offers non-alcoholic wines and zero-proof cocktails.
The new all-day ice cream parlor is located on the pool deck. Guests can enjoy milkshakes, smoothies and ice creams made by Humphry Slocombe.
The al fresco pizzeria results from a night-time transformation of waves Grill. This venue features pizzas, rosemary focaccia with burrata, Nutella pizza and other grilled Italian specialities.
“The Finest Cuisine at Sea does not always mean a white linen tablecloth and starched napkins,” says Del Rio. “It’s also a perfectly prepared pizza, accompanied by a chilled glass of white wine enjoyed on deck, as you set sail with a warm breeze around your shoulders; or a decadent poolside ice cream or flavorful smoothie as you relax on your sun lounger.”
More broadly, the cruise line’s new executive culinary directors, Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale, are in the process of refreshing the menus across all of Oceania’s ships. They’re also hard at work developing the culinary offerings for Allura, the line’s new ship slated to set sail next summer.
“We have so much to talk about, I cannot wait to share more in the coming weeks and months,” says Quaretti.
During the refurbishment of Marine, crews also renovated the ship’s 124 penthouse suites with custom furniture, new closets and cabinetry, new carpets and upholstery, new lighting and more.
They also refreshed a variety of public spaces, including Martinis, Horizons, The Grand Dining Room and Library.
