Fujifilm MicroChannel buys Oceania SMB practices of DXC Technology

DXC Technology has sold its regional Oceania small to medium-sized business (SMB) practices to IT consultancy Fujifilm MicroChannel, covering operations in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Fujifilm MicroChannel said the purchase – which encompasses six solutions including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and SAP Business One – would further strengthen its sales and implementation functions.

With its heritage dating back to 1995, the consultancy was formed in its current guise following the purchase of Australian ERP specialist MicroChannel Services by the Japanese tech giant’s IT advisory wing Fujifilm Business Innovation.

While that acquisition – made at the beginning of last year and thought to cost in the region of $100 million – added more than 200 professionals across the region, it’s currently unclear how many if any of DXC Technology’s staff will cross as part of the latest deal, the financial terms of which were also undisclosed. The firm however expects DXC’s SMB clients to make the transition.

“We look forward to continuing to provide superior solutions and services to these customers and guiding them on their digital transformation journey”, stated Tokyo-based Fujifilm Business Innovation CEO Naoki Hama, who noted the practice’s outstanding reputation. “Our combined business applications expertise allows us to continue to meet the demands of a growing market.”

Eager for ongoing growth, Fujifilm MicroChannel cited an Oceania IT market which is predicted to further expand on the back of demand in the SMB and corporate categories as a primary factor for the acquisition, while also pointing to the demonstrated track record of DXC’s mid-market business in providing innovative ERP solutions as highlighted by a number of industry awards.

Made with the aim of propelling a global ERP tilt, MicroChannel Services was generating around $60 million in revenues prior to its purchase, with Hama stating at the time that Australia was an important strategic market in Fujifilm Business Innovation’s goal of cracking the $4 billion mark by 2027. He also flagged that the company would continue to pursue local M&A opportunities.
