Genesis BBQ Group, the largest chicken franchise in South Korea, announced on July 2 that it has opened the “BBQ Ba” location in Ba, Fiji, solidifying its standing as a global leader with its “K-Chicken infused with the taste of Korean cuisine.”

Fiji, consisting of over 330 islands and a population of around 920,000, is a prominent tourist destination in Oceania, attracting 1 million international visitors annually, including about 10,000 Koreans. Approximately 1,000 Korean expatriates also reside in the country.

The newly opened BBQ Ba location is situated in Ba, the capital of Ba Province, which is located in northwestern Fiji. The city of Ba is renowned for its stunning natural scenery and marine ecosystem conservation, and it offers rich cultural and historical experiences. Additionally, it is home to many of Fiji’s wealthiest residents.

The BBQ Ba location is a premium store type targeting the nearby affluent neighborhood, covering an area of 233 square meters with a total of 52 seats. The menu includes a variety of chicken dishes such as Golden Fried Chicken and Spicy Chicken, as well as chicken burgers, pizzas, rice dishes, and cheese balls.

A BBQ spokesperson stated, “Set menus comprising wings and cheese balls are particularly popular among locals and tourists alike. Following our presence in North America, Central America, and Southeast Asia, we aim to establish BBQ as the leading K-Chicken brand in Oceania, infused with the flavors of Korean cuisine.”

BBQ first entered Fiji in 2011 by opening a store in Lautoka, the country’s second-largest city. With this new addition in Ba, BBQ is further promoting the excellence of K-Chicken in the Oceania region.
