Brisbane, Queensland, will be the epicenter of women’s rugby as it hosts the highly anticipated 2024 Oceania Rugby Women’s Championships from May 24 to June 2. Sunnybank Rugby Union Club will showcase teams from Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Papua New Guinea.
In the past five tournaments, Fiji has clinched victory in three, with the Black Ferns XV (developmental) and Samoa also earning well-deserved honors.
With the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England looming large, this championship carries immense significance for the participating teams. The victorious squad will clinch a coveted spot in the global tournament, serving as ambassadors for Oceania on the world stage.
In addition to World Cup qualification, the championship will determine placements for the WXV divisions. The winning team will secure one of the two spots available for Oceania in the WXV 3 Division, while the runner-up will claim the second spot. They will then vie for qualification to the 2025 Rugby World Cup against the top five teams from the WXV 2 – 3 Competition.
